IAALS (Life insurance)

The IAA Life Section (IAALS) was formed in 2005 to advance the actuarial practice in the global life insurance  industry. Our members work throughout the world in both academia and as practitioners.

Our Core Aims:

The core aims of the Life (IAALS) section are  to:

  • Sponsor and promote new actuarial research among academics and practicing actuaries
  • Champion the exchange of knowledge and views between academics and practitioners
  • Identify trends in products and risks, benchmark good practice and share ideas with the wider life industry through publications, colloquia and webcasts
  • Collaborate with other professional bodies, scientists and regulators to identify and provide insight on emerging risks or existing risks still difficult to quantify leaving gaps in existing applied risk management solutions 
  • Offer a unique platform for members to connect in a community of experienced chief actuaries and thought leaders in academics who are tackling challenges in the life industry across  the globe

Created the IAALS Ragnar Norberg Memorial Prize for the best life insurance paper published in the ASTIN Bulletin
