A Review of the Environmental, Social and Governance Reporting Among Global Pension Plans and a Proposed Reporting Framework

The paper introduces a framework for how retirement funds can report on pricing in social and environmental externalities in the provision of a pension promise.  The framework includes the financial inclusion aspects of retirement funds as well as how social and environmental externalities can be factored into the running of a fund and how its assets are invested.

Jennifer ALONSO GARCIA
Jennifer Alonso García joined the Department of Mathematics as a (tenured) Professor of Actuarial Science in October 2019. Besides, she is an Associate Investigator at CEPAR, and Netspar Fellow. Her research combines the areas of actuarial science, household, pension and quantitative finance to study the design, risk-sharing and financing of funded and pay-as-you-go retirement income schemes. Jennifer is currently involved in research projects on the financial decision making of households during retirement, life expectancy inequality and design and risk management of equity-linked retirement income products.



Speakers:

John Anderson
John oversees the management of the Alexforbes Group’s solutions in line with the company’s approach of securing a lifetime of financial well-being for clients. He has over 20 years’ experience in employee benefits and asset management. John has consulted to a number of large clients as valuator, employee benefit consultant, investment consultant and portfolio manager. He was the national head of consulting strategy for many years before leading the Research & Product Development area in the business. John is a fellow of both the Actuarial Society of South Africa (FASSA) and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FFA). He is a member of the ASISA Strategy and Policy Advisory Committee, previous member of various industry bodies, including the Research Committee and Retirement Matters Committee of the Actuarial Society of South Africa, ASISA Retirement Standing Committee and ASISA Retirement Reform Committee.

Cristina Leicht-Miranda
Cristina Leicht-Miranda is an accomplished professional with over 10 years of experience in technical assessments and consolidation reporting in accordance with International Accounting Standards. Her expertise includes evaluating pension plan amendments and developing harmonization models for benefit maintenance in Switzerland, as well as analyzing their impact under IFRS. Cristina is skilled at navigating complex financial landscapes, particularly in the areas of pensions and IFRS reporting



Peter Devlin
Peter Devlin is Partner and actuary at Deloitte Consulting in Germany. He is an FIA of the UK and advises clients on pension issues and especially in respect of de-risking via Pensioner Company models.
