Global Mentorship Program
The mission of Actuaries Without Borders (AWB®) is to promote the public good globally, focusing on countries that lack the actuarial resources needed to create productive, sustainable, and stable markets for insurance and other risk mitigation, and the means to develop the actuarial profession, in particular in support of a strategic objective of the International Actuarial Association (IAA) to support the development, organization and promotion of the actuarial profession in areas of the world in which it is not present or is not fully developed.
AWB formed a working group in 2015 which spent a year identifying and evaluating the demand and challenges for mentorship services in actuarially developing countries. The working group recognized that there is a large gap in mentorship services and there are limited programs in exam tutoring. As a result, we are pleased to announce that in mid-2016 AWB approved the launching of a pilot program focusing on global remote mentorship services supported by global remote exam tutoring services. Initially, this program will be rolled out in a limited scale and it will focus on actuarially developing countries. Once the infrastructure is established, this program could be expanded globally to cover many countries in the world.
In the pilot phase, remote exam tutoring services will be provided by leveraging teachers participating in overseas AWB seminars. In the next phase, remote mentorship and remote exam tutoring services will be combined using a shared infrastructure.
The remote mentorship program provides the following benefits to the global society:
- Assistance in the development of the actuarial profession where there is a lack of such resources.
- Contributes to the awareness of the actuarial profession and the spread of actuarial education by encouraging actuaries and academics across the world to volunteer in global mentoring, including actuarial exam tutoring, through a convenient platform available around the clock.
This program is not intended to provide free consulting services, executive coaching, personal life coaching, career coaching, etc. It is restricted to non-commercial use.
If you are interested in becoming a remote mentor, please complete the mentor application form . If you are interested in receiving mentorship services, please complete the mentee application form.

This is a very meaningful initiative to the global society. With increasing talent mobility, leveraging of cross-border expertise, and harmonization of global best practices, there exists a tremendous opportunity for international subject matter experts to empower people in local, overseas and/or actuarially developing countries. We ask you to donate your time and embrace the passionate mentees who live in the actuarially developing world. You can make an impact to people's life.
