Prize

Following the foundation of the LIFE Section of IAA in 2006, the LIFE Section Committee confirmed that the ASTIN Bulletin will be the official journal of the LIFE section. In order to encourage the submission of life papers to the ASTIN Bulletin, a LIFE Section Prize for the best life insurance contribution to the ASTIN Bulletin has been established.

Starting with Munich 2009, this prize shall be awarded at the IAA LIFE Colloquium. For the prize awarded at the IIIrd IAA LIFE Colloquium all life papers definitely accepted by the Editors of ASTIN Bulletin between January 2007 and February 2009 shall be considered.

The successful paper will be a significant contribution to the development of actuarial insight or methodology concerning life insurance. The prize money will be 1.000 CAD, awarded to the winner of the LIFE Section Prize. The winner of the LIFE Section Prize will be invited to give a special lecture at the Colloquium in Munich.

The jurors are Steven Haberman, member of the LIFE Scientific Committee and City University London, UK, and Hartmut Milbrodt, Chairman, LIFE Scientific Committee and University of Rostock, Germany, in cooperation with the IAA LIFE Section Committee.

Contestants for the LIFE Section Prize are encouraged to submit a life paper to ASTIN bulletin to be accepted no later than February 28th, 2009. For submissions please contact the Editorial board of ASTIN Bulletin (http://www.actuaries.org/index.cfm?DSP=ASTIN&ACT=BULLETIN&LANG=EN).
