Upcoming IAA Fund meeting in Hong Kong

The International Actuarial Association (IAA) is pleased to announce that the Asia Subcommittee, of its Advice and Assistance Committee, will be holding an IAA Fund Event in conjunction with the Joint IACA, IAAHS and PBSS Colloquium which is taking place at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong from May 6–9, 2012.

The IAA Fund event will run from May 9–10, 2012 and the sessions will include:

• A panel of association representatives discussing topics affecting the profession in the region;
• Discussion of the role of the actuary and professionalism;
• Actuarial education and the Actuarial Educators Network;
• Presentation of the International Experience Study through the IAA’s Mortality Working Group; and
• Update on Actuaries Without Borders^® and its activities in the Asia region.

This event will be attended by representatives of actuarial associations in the Asia region. Guests invited to this event will include:

• Leaders of national actuarial associations;
• Promoters of future national actuarial associations;
• Professionals and academics interested in actuarial education; and
• Regulators and supervisors of financial institutions, in particular insurance companies and pension funds.

The work of the IAA Fund, and of the Asia Subcommittee, is in support of the IAA's Strategic Objective 4, "to support the development, organization and promotion of the actuarial profession in areas of the world in which it is not present or is not fully developed".
