IAA announces Section Colloquia for the year 2012

version française

Two major international gatherings of actuaries will be hosted by the Sections of the International Actuarial Association (IAA) in 2012.

The first of these events, organized by the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong, will take place from May 6–9, 2012 in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Colloquium is a collaboration by the International Association of Consulting Actuaries (IACA), the Pension Benefits and Social Security Section (PBSS) and the Health Section (IAAHS). Participation by the IACA also includes the Asia Pacific Association of Consulting Actuaries (APACA). The theme of the colloquium is The Actuarial Profession and Social and Economic Development. The scientific program features over 40 sessions and more than 80 different speakers from 20-plus countries, covering all areas of actuarial practice, including life, health and non-life insurance, ERM, pensions and social security. In addition, eminent keynote speakers from local regulatory bodies, the actuarial community and the World Bank will be participating.

Later this year, the Mexican actuarial associations will be hosting the Actuarial Studies in Non-Life Insurance (ASTIN), the Actuarial Approach for Financial Risks/Enterprise Risk Management (AFIR-ERM) and the IAA Life (IAALS) Sections in Mexico City, Mexico, from October 1–4, 2012. The Mexican Colloquium will celebrate the anniversaries of the Asociación Mexicana de Actuarios and the Asociación Mexicana de Actuarios Consultores, as well as commemorate 10 years since having hosted the 27th International Congress of Actuaries in 2002. The theme of the colloquium is Beyond Boundaries. The plenary and parallel sessions will be held over three days, and will feature distinguished keynote speakers from the actuarial and academic communities.

These important events help support the IAA’s objective to "encourage forums for actuaries to discuss global actuarial issues" and to "facilitate the use and expansion of the scientific knowledge and skills of the actuarial profession".
