IAA Fund Meeting in Zagreb

Immediately following the meetings of the IAA Council and Committees in Zagreb at the beginning of October, the IAA Fund supported a special meeting for the actuarial associations of South-East Europe. This event was held on 3 October, followed by a professionalism course on 4 October. The IAA owes sincere thanks to the Croatian Actuarial Association for hosting the meeting and for the support provided.

Participants in the meeting were from Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania. The IAA Fund provided bursaries for eleven participants coming from other countries in the region. A total of 75 people attended the Professionalism Course, with 45 of them being from Croatia.

IAA speakers included Desmond Smith, President-elect; Tarmo Koll, Chairperson of the Advice & Assistance Committee; Chris Daykin, Chief Executive of the IAA Fund; Andrew Gladwin, Chairperson of the Actuarial Educators Subcommittee (Actuarial Educators Network); William Horbatt, Co-Vice-Chairperson of the Mortality Working Group; and Bob Conger, a former Chairperson of the Advice & Assistance Committee. In addition presentations were made by speakers from each of the countries represented to update participants on the latest developments regarding the actuarial profession in their countries. The professionalism course was led by Chris Daykin, assisted by Bob Conger and Tarmo Koll.
