Colloquia being hosted by IAA Sections in 2011

The International Actuarial Association (IAA) is a unique organization dedicated to actuarial research and education as well as the global development of the profession and of national actuarial associations. In order to encourage research and development in various areas of actuarial practice, the IAA has, over a period of years, created a number of specialized Sections with various categories of membership. Currently the IAA has seven such Sections: ASTIN (Actuarial Studies in non-Life Insurance), AFIR/ERM (Actuarial Approach to Financial Risks), AWB (Actuaries without Borders), IAAHS (IAA Health Section), IACA (International Association of Consulting Actuaries), IAALS, and PBSS (Pensions Benefits and Social Security).

The Journal of the IAA, the ASTIN Bulletin, is published twice yearly. This journal is the official refereed scientific journal of the global actuarial profession and is internationally renowned for its content. The IAA Journal covers all aspects of actuarial research and practice, including stochastic modeling, having evolved from an initial focus on non-life insurance.

Several of these Sections will be holding Colloquia in the coming year as follows.

IAAHS

The IAA Health Section (IAAHS) will be organizing a number of healthcare related sessions in conjunction with the Global Conference of Actuaries (GCA) to be held in Mumbai, India from 20-22 February 2011.

For more information visit the GCA Website: http://www.cimindia.net/gca/

Later in 2011, the IAAHS is also planning on presenting two webcasts, following a very successful webcast in November 2010 on the use of Stochastic Modeling for Health Actuaries. The dates and topics have not yet been decided. The webcasts will be offered free of charge to IAAHS members and with a modest cost equivalent to cost of IAAHS membership for non-members.
