Welcome to the IAA Colloquium in Hong Kong!

 

A Colloquium of the International Actuarial Association will be held in Hong Kong from 6 May to 9 May 2012. This event is being organized and hosted by the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong and will be held at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon. This Colloquium represents a joint collaboration of three IAA Sections, namely, International Association of Consulting Actuaries (IACA), Pension Benefits and Social Security Section (PBSS) and Health Section (IAAHS). Participation by IACA includes the Asia Pacific Association of Consulting Actuaries (APACA).

The theme of the Colloquium is The Actuarial Profession and Social and Economic Development. The program will include plenary sessions with formal addresses by invited keynote speakers, topical presentations by subject-matter experts, and parallel sessions at which submitted papers will be presented.

Updates:

  • Three new sessions have been added to the Scientific Programme:
    • An Overview of the International Educational Monograph on the Adjustment for Risk for Financial Reporting Purposes
    • The Realpolitik of using MCEV in Asia – a potential way forward for Embedded Value reporting in Chinese Taipei and elsewhere in the region
    • Assessing Claim Liabilities from the Thailand Floods
  • Our Scientific Programme is now available. The programme features 42 sessions and over 80 different speakers covering all areas of actuarial practice, including life, health and non-life insurance, ERM, pensions and social security.
  • Simon Walpole, FIA, Principal & Practice Leader, Deloitte Actuarial and Insurance Solutions (Hong Kong) Limited has been confirmed as the second of our plenary speakers on Tuesday.
  • Cynthia Hui, FIAA, Executive Director (Supervision), Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority has been confirmed as the second of our plenary speakers on Wednesday.
  • Mitchell Wiener, FSA, a Senior Social Protection Specialist in the World Bank's Indonesia Country Office has been confirmed as one of our plenary speakers on Wednesday.
  • Submitted abstracts can be accessed in the Programme section of the website.
  • Social activities have now been added to the Colloquium.
